Reading Blog #1
For my first reading blog I didn’t want to read an article about a specific concept. I feel like when I took DA2 originally I focused more on the technical aspect of learning. I was more focused on learning the concepts that I found myself not putting the same energy into my ideation. I chose this article because it talks about Ramisha Sattar’s, also known as MishaSpice, creative process.
I’ve always been drawn to Misha’s work because it aligns heavily with what I want to do career wise. It’s my dream to be a creative director for a musician, much like she is. As I’m progressing in my studies I’m learning I’m not drawn to the AI side of digital art. Yes, I know it will always be there, but it’s not for me. What really draws me to digital art is the various ways to combine it with analog forms. Misha does this exceptionally well, using mixed media collages to create digital animations. My favorite animation from her is an analog horse running, with each frame made by a different person.
Learning about her work flow helped me gain inspiration for my own. She says she starts all her design work with a collage moodboard. This helps her flesh out her specific visions. I feel like whenever I start a project I have a loose idea in my head that only gets properly fleshed out as I create the project. I want to take Misha’s approach with brainstorming to help me better understand what I’m wanting to create, rather than learning as I go.
My favorite works of Misha:
