My animation for this project is a dedication to my roommate's cat, Panda. Panda has been the perfect addition to our apartment and has made both of our lives so much more full. She’s absolutely in love with her mom, my roommate Brooke, and I’m proud to call her my cat niece. Brooke got Panda a month after we moved to Boulder and learned that neither of us could bring our cats from Texas. We knew we wanted a cat, so when Brooke brought home Panda we were both over the moon. She was initially anxious, but quickly warmed up to us. I wanted to use this animation to capture her playful demeanor. One of my favorite things about her is how she always finds something to play with, whether it be her toy, a bug, or even something as simple as a string. The animation follows Panda playing with toys before entering a portal into a whimsical forest. In this forest she meets a fairy and bee that join her on her adventure before the three of them encounter a waterfall. At this waterfall they discover a mermaid who lives there. The mermaid reveals itself before all four of them play together. Eventually a portal to the real world opens up where Panda says goodbye to her new friends before returning back to the real world. After exiting the enchanted forest she returns to the living room where she resumes playing, happy of the adventure she just departed from.
